Ritz Theatre Summer Camp | July 25th- 29th | Ritz Theatre | The Ritz Theatre Summer Camp is instructed by Ginny Ree Cavin and administered by the Tennessee Valley Art Association. Ginny Cavin has 53 years of theatre experience. She studied theatre at University of Tennessee Knoxville and Voice at Belmont University. She has interned on Broadway and taught theatre to children at performing arts schools in Nashville. Ginny Cavin will introduce the basics of stage performance and character development to students as they spend the week writing their own stage play and developing characters, sets, costumes, and plot. The end of the camp will result in a small production for family and friends to attend. Parents will sign their child in at 9AM each morning and pick up from the Ritz at 3PM. Two snacks will be provided. Students will need to bring their own sack lunch. Students should also dress for movement. Sneakers are preferred. Spots are limited and registration is required. The Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama is an annual traveling juried art show. The show is open to students from throughout the state who have visual impairments, blindness, and or deaf blindness. The artists are of various age attending public, private, residential, and home schools.
The show provides artists an opportunity to showcase their special talents and abilities.Children who participate in the show use various media to create one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Art is included in the students' academic curriculum in areas such as the development of communication skills, utilizing visual and tactical abilities, math, science, reading, and leisure time activities. The artwork is unique with emphasis on creativity, color, and tactile media.

slowly, please: cheoncheonhi hae juseyo is an ongoing body of work composed of textile sculptures, collage memorials, and photographic portraits. Through hand-dying and slow-stitching, biographical explorations, concentrated gazing, and listening, the collection features a simple desire to cultivate a greater intimacy with the world. Birmingham artist Tara Stallworth Lee makes photographs, paper, books, and collages. Expansion of human dignity and the significance of the natural world are important themes throughout all of her work.
