North Alabama African Heritage FestivalJune 3rd-4th  Willie Green Center, 609 S East St, Tuscumbia Explore African art and fashion, culture, crafts and food. Events includes drumming and dance demonstration, live music featuring rhythm and blues groups and gospel choirs, folk storytelling and activities for children. The Festival is held each year on the first weekend of June.
Camp KD! June 6th-10 & June 13-17 Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts Welcome back to Camp KD- a place for your child to make art, make friends, learn, and have fun! Available to students grades 1-6. We are offering TWO week-long sessions. Session One: starts Mon. June 6 and ends Fri. June 10. Session Two: starts Mon. June 13 and ends Fri. June 17. For each Session, students in grades 1-3 will meet from 9am-11am and students grades 4-6 will meet from Noon-2pm.
Deibert Park Fishing Days June 7th Deibert Park , Florence No fishing license needed. Bring your own tackle, snacks & chairs and whatever you may need. Please leave no tract of having been here. Help keep our parks beautiful. Fishing is allowed from 6:30-11:30 am.
UNA Summer STEM Camps June 8-10 UNA The three-day, two-night residential camp will incorporate project-based learning, will promote scientific inquiry and the application of mathematics and technology in the context of experimental design, problem solving, technical briefing and report writing. Camp instructors are members of the UNA faculty. Students will build confidence, competence, and community through STEM activities. Open to any high school student in grades 10-12.

2022 Shoals Spirit of Freedom Celebration July 1st McFarland Park Independence celebrations will include Downtown Florence Alliance's First Friday Event on Friday, July 1 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm, where market vendors will sell handmade merchandise and more on Court Street. On Thursday, June 30, the Florence Parks and Recreation Department will host a patriotic-themed Kids Fest at Lewis Field from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm which includes activities, inflatables, and snow cones.
Muscle Shoals Music Camp July 18- July 22 UNA Open to high school students (students enrolled in grades 9-12 during the 2022-2023 school year) only. Come learn from the people who made – and continue to make – the Muscle Shoals Sound the phenomenon it is. You will take classes from the music makers, hear their stories in panel discussions, perform on the stage where so many of them have made music, and visit the studios where the magic began – FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound. Application deadline June 1, 2022!

Ritz Theatre Summer CampJuly 25th- 29th Ritz TheatreThe Ritz Theatre Summer Camp is instructed by Ginny Ree Cavin and administered by the Tennessee Valley Art Association. Ginny Cavin has 53 years of theatre experience. She studied theatre at University of Tennessee Knoxville and Voice at Belmont University. She has interned on Broadway and taught theatre to children at performing arts schools in Nashville. Ginny Cavin will introduce the basics of stage performance and character development to students as they spend the week writing their own stage play and developing characters, sets, costumes, and plot. The end of the camp will result in a small production for family and friends to attend. Parents will sign their child in at 9AM each morning and pick up from the Ritz at 3PM. Two snacks will be provided. Students will need to bring their own sack lunch. Students should also dress for movement. Sneakers are preferred. Spots are limited and registration is required. The Miracle Worker Play Friday and Saturday evenings starting June 4th Helen Keller Birthplace Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm (gates open at 7pm). Performed at the outdoor theater on the grounds of the historic Helen Keller Birthplace, this award-winning play recalls the childhood of the deaf-blind child, who became known as "America's First Lady of Courage", and her gifted teacher, Anne Sullivan.  The outdoor drama, now in its 61st season, is the longest consecutively running drama in the state. Ticket reservations: 256-383-4066. Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama

The Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama is an annual traveling juried art show. The show is open to students from throughout the state who have visual impairments, blindness, and or deaf blindness. The artists are of various age attending public, private, residential, and home schools.
The show provides artists an opportunity to showcase their special talents and abilities.Children who participate in the show use various media to create one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Art is included in the students' academic curriculum in areas such as the development of communication skills, utilizing visual and tactical abilities, math, science, reading, and leisure time activities. The artwork is unique with emphasis on creativity, color, and tactile media.

We're off to see the wizard! This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has entertained audiences for generations. Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum's beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. Show dates are June 23-26, 2022. The show is directed by Gail Allen and Jennifer Kilpatrick.

slowly, please: cheoncheonhi hae juseyo is an ongoing body of work composed of textile sculptures, collage memorials, and photographic portraits. Through hand-dying and slow-stitching, biographical explorations, concentrated gazing, and listening, the collection features a simple desire to cultivate a greater intimacy with the world. Birmingham artist Tara Stallworth Lee makes photographs, paper, books, and collages. Expansion of human dignity and the significance of the natural world are important themes throughout all of her work.
